Tartan Stampers Team Training

On Saturday we had a Stampin Up team training/get together in Aberdeen. Myself, Dawn and Elaine shared 11 items with the girls that came along. We made 9 cards, a mini book and a notebook using new stamps, papers and embellishments from the brand new Stampin up Mini and SAB collections.
I made this "Simply Adorned" display to show.

I just love the "simple Adorned" Necklace that's available in the new Mini Catalogue. I love even more that it can be different EVERY day!!

As part of most Stampin Up! get togethers we take part in "swapping". Saturday was no exception and here are a selection of the FANTASTIC swaps I received. I am part of a MOST talented group of girls!!

Stampin Up Valentine Wreath

As I have said I was asked to design another class for "U Stamp with Dawn and Friends". I was to use the fantastic new Simply Scored Board from Stampin Up. As we dont have this board yet in Europe, Dawn sent me one of as a Thank You gift for a previous class I designed. BUT.....I have been told that we are getting this fantastic Score Board in the Summer!!!

Sorry its taken so long for the next installment - i have been catching up on my sleep this week!! Convention is very tiring you know!

Well..... One of the highlights for me at any Stamping get together ...is.... the stamping!! Here are the four make and takes we made this year. We had much longer than last year which meant I got all of the projects finished. We were given full instructions and all the supplies needed. We used the 2 fantastic stamps sets that we all got in out convention bags too.

Another highlight of Convention is PRIZE PATROL. Names rondomly appear on the large screens. You stand up and get a prize!! I was lucky enough to win a fantastic prize. I have convered part of the photo though.... Its products that arent available yet!!!! You will love them though.

I am just back from the BEST EVER convention at Disney Paris. I had a fantastic time with a group of very good friends.

Stampin Up! European Convention Paris

I typed this blog post before I left for convention. (As you read this I should be there!)
A big part of Convention is "swapping". As I had so many comitments before convention I decided on a VERY simple swap.
I made 100 of these 6 inch rulers, using the new in-colours.

These are small gifts for the girls I am travelling with.

My Hall table Halloween display is looking a bit sparse this year. Last year I looked out my witches cauldron (old family soup pan) and filled it with handmade treat bags....... no children came to visit. Suppose my 2 are teenagers now and most of the people i know have older children so its only to be expected. This year I have gone for a more "grown up look". Unfortunately the few handmade items (apart from my precious mini book that records ALL my boys Halloweens as children) are packed up for the SECC.
So if you want to see some handmade Halloween decor - COME AND SEE US at the SECC from this Thursday.

Last week I travelled to a regional SU event in Edinburgh. Part of any SU event involves some stamping!! We got a fantastic new stamp set which will be available as from 1st Oct called "Big Top" and we made the following make and takes. This new stamp set is ideal for children's birthdays or scrapbook layouts.

Also ALL Stampin up gatherings involve "swapping" so check back over the next few days and I will show you the card I made and the cards I received back from the other demonstrators.

I have started making items to show at the Hobbycraft ICHF exhibition at the SECC in Glasgow at the end of October. PLEASE come along and visit me on the Stampin Up stand!.
Today I made this picture. It used all the Stampin Up! colours from the Subtle, Brights and Regals collections. The butterflies were cut using the Stampin Up! sizzix embosslets folder.

No Its not one I have recieved!! This is one of the cards that we made at our recent STAMP CAMP in Aberdeen. The ladies (and girls) enjoyed a full day of crafting and made 5 cards and a mini album. We used the fantastic Stampin Up Christmas Cocoa papers and the Welcome Christmas Stamp set.

I have been busy sewing!! Even better - its Stampin Up fabric!!!!!!!
As from 1st October Stampin Up will be offering "large fat Quarters" !! My bag is made using 3 coordinating fabrics called "Deck the Halls". I just love it! I have used a technique called rag quilting and cut the squares using another new product that will be available from 1st Oct - A sizzix square scalloped die.

Wreaths, Wreaths and more wreaths

I spent yesterday making "Paper Wreaths" with a bunch of lovely ladies. I showed them how to make them and they all went home with a fantastic Christmas wreath each!!

Here is the wreath I made yesterday with the class. (The wreath base is 12 inches so the finished wreath measures about 16" accross). In the class we used two packets of Stampin Up! Designer Patterned paper

Can you believe my surprise when I saw advertised in the daily cruise programme "scrapbooking"?? Of course I went along to investigate and unfortunately it wasn't a class as such but.... they were selling exclusive Royal Caribbean scrapbook Kits!! I am a Stampin Up! girl through and through but how could I pass up embellishments with the RCL logo on it and cruise specific items!!
Since coming home I have actually made my first 12x12 layouts in over a year. Here is what I have come up with so far.

The Tartan Stampers met today in Aberdeen. The fantastically organised Elaine was "leader" today. She showed us 4 fabulous projects which we all got to make. They really are gorgeous as you can see. She gave us a lowdown on what we missed at the Stampin Up regional in Edinburgh and even had a slide show of all the samples and demos we missed there.
Thank you Elaine for a very relaxing enjoyable day. (Cant wait for the next one)

Macaroons or Macarons!!

Had a go at baking macaroons. This was just a trial run so I didnt bother colouring them. I filled them with chocolate. I think they must have tasted better than they looked as they didnt last long!!
They didnt turn out as smooth as I wanted - think I need more eggwhites next time.

Last minute as usual!! It was my Mother in Law's birthday yesterday and I wasn't very organised. I did however have this card on hand that I made recently at a workshop. It is based on the card we made at convention. I used the "Just Believe" set and the water colour technique. My colour combination was: Not Quite Navy, Bashful Blue, Very Vanilla and Pear Pizazz.

I will be back tomorrow with the Mothers Day cards I made.

New Grandson

This is a card I made for a colleague. She asked for a New Grandson card to give to a friend.
I went with the Stampin up colour combo - Marina Mist. Pear Pizzazz and wisper white.
I have been playing with my sister in laws BIG SHOT - just love this tool!! Used a spot embossing folder and cut the circles with old nestabilities dies I have.
The "baby" is cut with an "ancient" doll die.

I alsoused a stampin up scallop border punch and some Marina Mist ribbon.

I am last minute this week. I have used my favourite "Bird on a Branch" Stampin up set which unfortunately is now retired.
I have used Rich Razzleberry and black ink. The Blossoms on the branch remind me of Spring.

Thank you very much to the ladies that came to our class today. I am now sitting with my feet up VERY tired!! It was however a very enjoyable day. I just hope all the attendees enjoyed it as much as I did.
We followed a similar format as before. I do the class along with my friends Dawn and Sheryl. We each chose a Sale A Bration stamp set to showcase. I picked BLISS, Sheryl, SWEET SUMMER and Dawn PUNCH BUNCH.

I got to go first. I showed the ladies how to make my 2 cards. They may seem very familiar LOL!! As I told them - why reinvent the wheel!! The first card is cased from the Sale A Bration Brochure!!

One layer Card

This weeks challenge over at "Less is More" is:
a ONE LAYER CARD with the theme of a
FLOWER or a TREE.
This is a card I made a while ago using the wonderfully versatile Stampin up set - LOVELY AS A TREE
It uses sponging and masking techniques. I only used 1 ink colour - my favourite "OLD OLIVE".

I stumbled accross this new Challenge Blog and imediately knew I wanted to be part of it!
Its called "Less is More".
This weeks challenge is to create a card that is:
Clean & Simple
(A design of card with clean lines, minimal elements, areas of white space and few or no embellishments.)
and
PINK BLACK AND WHITE.

As I am a Stampin Up demo and its "Sale a Bration" time I used the fantastic "FREE" stamp set called "BLISS". Just to be different I have the set in french!

The first project we did was this card. We used the "Faux Silk" Technique and I cased the design of a card I had seen in the "Impessions" Demo magazine.

We are sharing with you some ideas using the fantastic FREE stamp sets that Stampin Up! are giving away as part of the "sale-a-bration". Just click on the link in the right hand bar to see how YOU could get your hands on one of these exclusive stamp sets.

The first stamp set I have used is called "Bliss". Just to be different I ordered the French version - "Joie".

This is a "case" of the card in the sale-a-bration brochure. I used Old Olive
& Melon Mambo card stock. Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise and So Saffron Ink

These are really simple cards. The "joie" is stamped in black onto
whisper White card. The butterflies are stamped in Pear Pizzaz and Marina Mist.
The butterflies were then stamped again on a piece of scrap card and cut out and
glued to the card. just a few basic rhinestones finish off the card.
I have also spritzed a little ink onto the cards too.

The next set I used is called "So Happy for You". I thought it would be nice to make a set of cards that could be given as a gift. I kept them simple again to showcase this very versatile set.

I stamped the sentiments in black then used a different "in-colour" for each of the cards :
Peach Parfait
Poppy Parade
Pear Pizzazz
Concord Crush
Blushing Bride.
Again I finished them off with a few rhinestones!!

Lastly I used the "Punch Bunch" set.
I was totally lacking in any ideas so I took out my COLOUR COACH. I just picked a card at random and the combo that came up was:
Baja Breeze
So Saffron
Poppy Parade.
The reason this set is so quick and easy to use is that the stamps are designed to go with the SU punches. What about the owl??? Well watch this space!!!

Another year older today!!
I got a surprise parcel from hubby who is off shore at the moment. I have a Trollbead bracelet and got these new beauties for it.

I also got these fantastic handmade cards through the post from crafty friends - thanks girls they are gorgeous!

Clean and Simple Cards

The final cards I made this year were for our Sister, Brother and families. I kept it VERY clean and simple with NO stamping!! The sentiment is printed on my PC and punched out.

I used:

Card - real red, whisper white
Punches- bird punch, hole punch (for berries), modern label punch, word window
Ribbon - real red taffeta
little bit of whisper white ink on robin.

Serene Snowflakes

The cards I made for our Parents are quite topical as it turns out - snowflakes!! I also made each of them an Album with photos of 2010 in it. I have done this for a number of years now. This year I used the Album that Sharon and I taught at our stamp camp in September. I made the cards to coordinate.
I used:

Card - chocolate chip, very vanilla, cake crumb
Stamps - Serene Snowflakes
ink - choc chip, cake crumb, versamark
gold glitter, gold embossing powder, shimmer paint, gold cord, pearls
ribbon - chocolate chip (retired)

Baja Breeze Contempo Christmas

I wanted to share with you some samples I made using the gorgeous new Stampin up Baja Breeze colour. I mixed it with Very Vanilla, Early Espresso and Crumb Cake. I also used the fantastic new pearls.
I once again used the new stamp set "Contempo Christmas" and the new ornament punch.

Every year I like all my parcels to match!!!! I know..... This years theme has ended up a sort of " brown paper parcles tied up with string"!! The adults have little bells added. ( All bought in Ikea)

"Button" canvas

Cant remember if I showed you the canvas I made at our tartan Stampers training event a while ago.
The buttons are all made from punching out circles of card and gluing them together. They were then covered in versamark clear ink and embossed. The background is stamped with the En Francais stamp using Sahara Sand ink.
The buttons are made with real red and old olive card. The trunk choc chip card.

Christmas Tradition

Over the last 10 years or so it has been a tradition in our house that when ever we are on holiday we buy a decoration for the Christmas tree. Its quite a challenge as I am quite fussy about my tree decorations - they have to be red or gold!!
Even my teenage son has joined in - he brought me back a lovely gold bauble from his holiday in Switzerland this summer and my Mother in Law brought me back a hand painted egg from Austria.
Every year we love looking at all the decorations we have accumulated over the years. They all bring back so many memories and are very precious to me.

Myself and my other talented friends having been busy making Christmas items using the fantastic Stampin up products.
I recently decorated my hallway and wanted to make something christmasy for my new hall table. I found this fantastic picture frame for £5 at my local factory shop. I immediately knew that I wanted to use the "Welcome Christmas" set from SU and the "Christmas Cocoa" papers that are available in the amazing BUNDLE OFFER.

Wreath stamped in Soft Suede ink onto whisper white CS. Berries highlighted with SU red glitter. Real red ribbon.

Wreath stamped as before. Sentiment stamped in versamark
and embossed with SU gold embossing powder. Edge embossed with heat and stick and dazzling diamonds.

Background - patterned paper stamped with wreath image. Berries SU red glitter. Imaged stamped in soft suede ink onto whisper white CS. Punched out using large ornament punch. Edges inked and then card covered in versamark, heat and stick then dazzling diamonds.

Wreath stamped as previously. "JOY" sentiment stamped and embossed then cut out and "popped" with dimensionals.

I also wanted to share with you Christmas Candles I made earlier this year. I used my favourite Baroque Motif stamp set and Real Red and Old Olive inks. I even made a matching card!

Last night at Convention

Convention finished around 4.30 on the Saturday. By the time we were bussed back to the Hilton we were all starving. We quickly dumped our bags and headed out to TGI Friday round the corner. After our meal we sat for a while in the hotel foyer/bar area.
Sunday was a long lie then the long journey back to Aberdeen!!

Cant wait till next year - Disney Paris here we come!!!!! If you would like to join my and the other Tartan Stampers next year at Convention why not join us as a SU demonstrator?? Just ask me how!

Convention Day 2

Not such an early start today. We had time to do more swapping before the Make and Takes started. We were given 3 projects to make using the stamps we were given on day 1.
There was also "prize patrol". I won a superb stamp and set of stampin spots!

Awards Night Continued

Hopefully some of my team mates will email some better photos of the awards night!!

After the meal and presentations were finished it was back to the Hilton in the coaches. The "Tartan Stampers" decided to congregate in the upstairs foyer area. We were very naughty and being mean Scots and not wanting to pay bar prices we had arranged our own "stash" of refreshments (hopefully the Hilton management don't read this blog). We were all exhausted but we didn't want the evening to end and Dawn had hinted that she "may" have a surprise for us all!!

Dawn indeed had a surprise. She had brought us gifts back from Monaco and also had a few more surprises.

Thanks Dawn. Just LOVE my thistle brooch.

No party is complete without the guests who turn up in their PJs!!! (sorry girls!)

Thank you Liz - a fantastic gift from my team mate.

Cant remember the exact time but Sharon and I decided to call it a night and headed back to our room. We had followed convention tradition and brought a "roomie" gift for each other. We swapped gifts when we got back to the room. Sharon knows me well and her gift to me was all co-ordinating with my favorite colour - Old Olive!! Thanks Sharon.

Awards Night

We got back to the Hilton on Friday and jumped in the shower, hair, make up etc etc. We were all very excited, as, me for one rarely gets a chance to "dress up". Before long we were back in the coaches heading back to Addington Palace.

Convention Day 1

Friday was the day Convention "officially" began. It was a VERY early start for us all. We had been told to be in the hotel reception for 7.30am. As I had slept so well the night before I was up and ready in plenty of time.

The buses picked us up and we were driven the short disctance to Addington Palace.

There was a HUGE queue on arrival to register and pick up our goodies. We all took the oportunity in the queue to start swapping though!! As we were having so much fun swapping cards and putting names to faces the long wait didnt seem so bad.
This is the bag we got and we got 2 stamps sets too.

We did "paper, stamp, marker" which was basicaly making up a sample sheet of All the colours. Here si Elaine having fun while we did it!!

We shopped in "momento mall". I bought a couple of shopping bags, a ruler, a stamp and some pop up bins!!

We then returned to the Main stage area for the begiining of the General Session, Workshop WOWs and various other speakers.

At around 5pm we all rushed back out to the buses to go back to the Hotel to change for the evening Gala Dinner. I will post about that tomorrow.

Day 1

Well........ Convention for me started on Thursday. Myself and Sharon finished work, had a quick change and headed off to Aberdeen airport. We were flying to Gatwick along with our fellow "Tartan Stampers". After a bit of confusion where we were all supposed to meet we gathered at the gate ready to board the Fly-be flight to Gatwick.

We met the others at Gatwick - Liz & Teresa. Carolyn came to pick up some of us and drive us to the hotel the others went by taxi. Carolyn's downline, Lorraine and Kirsteen from USA, had arrived at the Hilton earlier.

It was a quick rush up to our rooms after check - in to dump our cases and rush off to our little party/buffet that had been arranged by the lovely Jo Dumbleton. The check in is another story!!!! far to long to recount on here - if you are intrigued - ask Dawn!LOL!

Myself and Sharon went off to bed around midnight - absolutely shattered. We knew we had an early start the next day too!

2010 SU Convention

Myself and my fellow "Tartan Stampers" arrived back from Convention tonight. A HUGE congratulation to Dawn, Elaine and Kara who received awards for their hard work!!
I had a great weekend, the company and friendship was fantastic. I even got to meet "THE" Shelli Gardiner.

Over the next few days I post some pics.
I will start off with some of the items I made to take with me to Convention.

This is a small bag I decorated with a bow to hold a small gift for my Upline Dawn. I also made a similar one for my fantastic "Roomie" Sharon. The bow is very simple to make with the Basic black grossgrain ribbon.

Card Candy Swap

I made these toppers using the fantastic Artistic Etchings Stamp Set. I used Real red, Crumb Cake and Basic black inks and card Stock. I made 10 sets and swapped with other attendees. I will show you the ones i got in return later (they were amazing!!)

I made a brooch using the Grossgrain striped ribbon. I used self cover buttons in the centre which are covered in black grossgrain. I attached them to a small gift card. I again made 10 of these to swap.

Christmas Card class pictures

Last Saturday Dawn and myself held a workshop in the VSA Woodside Leisure Centre in Aberdeen. The ladies made 6 cards. I think all the ladies thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were delighted with their creations!! Here is a peek of my samples. I taught the first 3 and Dawn taught the final 3.

Stamp Camp

Unfortunately I was far too busy to take photos on Saturday at our first Stamp Camp!!LOL!! I am waiting to "pinch" a few from Sharon though.
Here are the projects we made.
The first is a "Matchbook" card holder and a set of 6 cards using the "one sheet wonder" technique. We used the gorgeous new shimmer paint too and the Serene Snowflakes stamp set which everyone got to take home and keep!

We broke for Lunch, then in the afternoon we made a tri Shutter Album in a tin. We used the fantastic Serene Snowflakes Stamp set again.

Wreath Class

I visited a VERY lovely bunch of ladies on Saturday to show then how to make wreaths. I was demonstrating the wreath I made that is in my header. I took along the following wreaths to show them too.

On Saturday 18th September Dawn and myself are holding a Stampin Up! card class at the Papeterie, Papermill, Bucksburn Aberdeen, from 2 -4.30pm. We will be making 6 cards using different techniques. The cost is £15 and includes all materials (bring your own glue runner or tape) and tea, coffe, juice and cakes. You will go home with 6 different cards and envelopes ready for Christmas!

Canvas

I made this canvas yesterday at our "Tartan Stampers" team training.
It is a small 20cm x 20cm canvas from Dunelm Mill. I stamped the background "roughly" with the Stampin Up French Script background stamp.
The buttons are all made from real red and old olive card. They are made by glying multiple layers of punched circles together and I then covered them in embossing powder. I finished them off by punching 2 holes using my cropodile.
The gold button at the top was covered in heat and stick powder, melted and then covered in SU fine gold glitter. The trunk was made in hte same way using chocolate chip card. i embellished a few burrons by threading through some of the fine SU elastic cord. I attached the buttons to the canvas using crystal effects glue.
Dawn showed us Jenni Pauli's fantastic tree that she demoes at last years Convention. We then adapted this idea and made our own versions.

Look what I have done to my sons bedroom...ooops. Better tidy it away before he come home!! I usually craft in hte loft but this time of the year it is FAR too hot and stuffy. I trailed ALL my stuff down into my sons bedroom , who is away on his hols. WHAT a mess!!

Before I show you todays creation - just a reminder_

Again I was inspired by a few different blogs with this card. I dont know who "CASEd" who!!.
I was despirate to use the new "All a Flutter" single stamp from the current mini catalogue. I once again used "baroque motifs" as the background.

All materials SU.
Stamps: All a flutter, Baroque motifs, sentiment from In the stars
Ink: Melon mambo, regal rose, & So saffron
Card stock: Basic black, Melon Mambo and whisper white.
other: ribon - melon mambo grossgrain.

To make the butterfly "pop" I stamped it twice (once on the card and once on a scrap bit of white), colouring both with a aqua painter and a little ink in the lid of the pad, I then cut out one and mounted it on top of the image stamped on the card.

Last night I tried "stamping on candles". I will let you know how I got on next week!!

New babies

I had a couple of new baby cards to make so why stop there? I decided to make a few more!! I was inspired by various designs along this line that I have seen on blogs.

All supplies SU
Card stock; bashful blue, pretty in pink and wisper white.
Ink: bashful blue and pretty in pink
Punches: scallop circle, 1 1/4 inch, 1 inch & 1/4 inch circle punches.
ribbon: pale blue and pale pink gingham
i also used me newly purchased pricking tool and mat - just love the detail created!

To make ribbon secure I actaully used the pink handled hole punch and made 2 holes. I then threaded the ribbon through and tied it in a bow. The "buttons" were made with the smallest (1/4") circle punch and then once glued on I made 2 liitle holes with the pricking tool.

I used the circle baby stamp from the "In the Stars set" for my batch of cards but for the personalised one I created the text in words using "word art"

Its my crafty friend Kirsti's Birthday today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIRSTI. As you can see she has a fab name for her blog. What else could I do but to look out my very own "vintage" teacup (my Grannys wedding china circa 1939) as inspiration for a birthday card.

Ink: versa mark, regal rose, certain celery

Other: gold embossing powder, clear embossing powder and certain celery ribbon. Circle punch for corners.

Now...since I have a whole day to craft I though I would continue and make a wedding card. We have been invited to a wedding which we unfortunately cant attend. i will send this card along to the hotel. I wanted to tone the card in with the colours on the invitation.

And here is my card. I used the same design as my Birthday card. Same stamps etc. I used silver embossing powder this time (just love SU powder - it is soo fine it gives really detailed lines). The card stock is Night of Navy and Whisper white. Since it is a special card for a special occasion I used one of my VERY precious hat pins and beads from the Pretties Kit. I though the card called for some bling so I dug out my dreaded bejeweller and added a few crystals.

This is the card I made for my Dad for Fathers Day. My Parents are on holiday so it is waiting for them to come home. I got the inspiation from a US blog - cant find it now to give credit.
It is made using Stampin Kraft and black card stock. I used my favourite "lovely as a tree" stamp set and black ink. Very simple - just finished off with SU linnen thread and a button out of my sewing box.

As my parents are on holiday I am on babysitting duties for their canary. It is the MOST noisy and messy "thing" out. When I am on the phone it does a VERY good impression of the smoke alarm!! (Isn't that right Dawn??!!) At every good bit during a TV programme it sings SOOO loudly. Not "nice" signing but more like a door bell sound!! Look at the mess it spills out from the cage daily!!

I have made my cards using the BRAND NEW Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry cardstock and ink. I also used the gorgeous new polka dot ribbon. For the cards I used the Bird on a Branch Stamp Set from the Mini catalogue (113266) This stamp set is a favourite of mine - its sooo classy. I stamped the bird silhouette image twice and cut the second one out with snips and mounted it on a dimensional for effect. The black Patterned Paper and spotty window sheets are also form the Mini catalogue - (night and day).

Kraft and Bella Blue

I made these as samples. I made a small paper bag book and covered it in the Bella Blue patterned papers, Not quite Navy card Stock and used the flower punch.
I made a matching bag for the book using a paper bag and covered it in Kraft card. I used the scallop border punch and decorated the front with one of the new mini tag stamps. Some of the images I heated with heat and stick and covered in glitter. The inspiartion and idea for the bag came from my fantastic upline Dawn - thanks!!

Stampin Up Jackpot Papers

It seems that you either love or hate these patterned papers!! Well I love them. They were ideal for my Sons 18th birthday.

This is the Birthday card I made for him - very simple. I used the Jackpot paper of course, real read, so saffron and black card stock. real red and so saffron ribbon and the word window punch.

I then made menus and favours/place names for the table for his family party. I used the same materials. The flowers are made using the scallop circle punch and the clear rhinestone brads. The stars are cut out with the star punch. I filled the pillow boxes with mints.

Over the past couple of months I collated photos of EVERY one his birthdays (1 to 17) and put them together in a mini book. I bought the book from a local sore and added a few embellishments from my own stash but all the rest of the papers, card stock, ribbons and punched shapes are from the Jackpot range and the previous colours of card stock I have mentioned. I used the "In the stars" stamps and co-ordinating punch to decorate a few of the pages.

Just to show you how much I love the Jackpot papers - Look at the cakes I made for the party - 60 of them!! I even managed to get "jackpot" sprinkles.

The balloons on the tables were even Real Red, Black and So Saffron - well as near as I could get!!
